The Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye (Shammeh), has presented a proposed budget of N2.390billion for the 2021 fiscal year to the legislative arm of the local government.

While presenting the appropriation Bill on Tuesday tagged “Budget of Legacy”, the council chairman said the budget has been planned to benefit the people of Isolo more than the previous ones.

According to him, despite the onslaught of COVID-19 which limited the council’s capacity to meet its IGR target, his administration was able to record successes in terms of development projects with the construction of five standard roads at Okota; Adebajo Street at Ishagatedo; Fabiyi Street at Ilasamaja and Latif Atobajeun Street, Ajao Estate.

He added that his administration would continue to deliver excellent development projects that would impact positively on the landmass and people of Isolo LCDA till the last day in office of his administration.

Among the road projects expected to be delivered before his administration winds up in July this year include Araromi Street, Ilasamaja; Idowu Osifodunrin Street, Ire Akari Estate; Karmu Street, Akinbaiye, Aregbe Street, Akinbaiye; Church Street, Ajao Estate as well as the reconstruction of the Engineering Block in the council secretariat.

Recalling the executive-legislative relationship he enjoyed over the years, Olaleye said: “I never thought I would have a smooth sail because all the seven councillors are from the opposing camp but I must praise the Leader for not allowing external forces to come between us. I am eternally grateful to you because you have proven to be a peaceful individual who is conscious of his mandate to the people of Isolo.

“I therefore assure you of my support and assistance in whatever form whenever you need it. You can always count on my support because you have always supported me.”

In his remark, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Remmy Shittu Remmy, praised the council chairman for bringing forth lots of astounding legacies that have put the council area among the best in Lagos and the country at large.

He also praised the sterling quality imbued in the council boss which has brought peace and harmony between the Executives and the Legislative Arm of the council.

For this reason, Shittu said he would personally continue to work with the present administration till its last day in office for a greater Isolo LCDA.

The council leader enumerated some of the achievements which have contributed to the rebranding of the image of Isolo LCDA.

He added that in spite of the turbulence of Year 2020, he and his colleagues were able to organize a Mentoring and Training programme for primary school pupils held at Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School, Isolo.

He also highlighted the collaborative relationship between his team and the US Embassy which paved way for him to visit the White House in Washington DC.

He therefore remarked that “God has been wonderful to us here in Isolo,” even as he hoped and prayed to God to provide Isolo with a new chairman who will continue with the the legacies of the present chairman.
