 Lagos RRS nabs serial phone snatchers at Computer Village

The Operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on routine patrol, on Thursday, arrested two members of a notorious syndicate that specializes in phone theft at Computer Village, along the very busy Obafemi Awolowo Way Ikeja.

The RTS Media Director, Taofiq Adebay, in a statement, said the suspects were arrested after dispossessing an innocent Corps member of his phone.

He said: “The two suspects, Abiodun Idowu, (M), aged 40, an indigene of Sagamu-Remo in Ogun State, resident at No 3, Segilola Street, Agege, Lagos and Adeleke Adekunle, (M), aged 27, an indigene of Ila in Osun State, who resides at No 7, Araromi Street, Kola, Alagbado, Lagos, were arrested after dispossessing one Olakunle John, a newly deployed NYSC Corp member who was waiting at the bus stop to board a shuttle bus back to his place of primary assignment at Ikorodu.

“On interrogation, both suspects confessed to have been in the fraudulent business of stolen phone and further turned in credible intelligence towards the arrest of their fleeing accomplices.  A galaxy A20 model phone and two sim cards belonging to the victim were recovered.”

He hinted that the RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, had transferred both suspects to the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, for discreet investigation in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police,  Hakeem Odumosu.
