Lagos warns celebrities, influencers against patronising illegal transport unions

The Lagos State Government has warned celebrities, influencers and other public figures against associating with or patronising individuals operating as illegal transport union members across the state.

The government said such associations could undermine ongoing efforts to regulate the transport sector and maintain order on Lagos roads.

The warning was issued as the state intensified its campaign against activities linked to unauthorised transport operators, commonly referred to as “agberos”.

Authorities urged celebrities and influencers to be mindful of the individuals and groups they publicly associate with, stressing that public figures have a responsibility to promote lawful conduct.

The government also warned transport operators and individuals involved in unauthorised activities to comply with existing regulations or face appropriate sanctions.

It said efforts would continue to ensure that the state’s transportation system operates in an orderly and regulated manner while protecting commuters and other road users.
