LASUSTECH partners Ikorodu North LCDA to strengthen CSR

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), in a bid to fulfill part of her Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in its immediate environment, has collaborated with Ikorodu North LCDA.

The Institution held its biennial meeting with the community at the University’s College of Agriculture Theater (500-seaters), Ikorodu campus on Thursday, August 11, 2022.

The event titled “Biennial Environment Discourse on Perennial Flooding of First Gate and Odongunyan Environs”, had in attendance students, community members of the stated areas and the Ikorodu North LCDA staff.

The Head of Department, Urban and Rural Planning (LASUSTECH), Tpl. Adebayo Fapohunda, appreciated the LCDA and welcomed the chairman and other representatives for extending the hand of partnership to the University.

He stressed on how blockage of drainages have rendered many people homeless in the community and urged the community members to discourage pouring wastes into the drainage system and also maintain a clean environment.

The Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Bldr. Deola Banjo, in his address welcomed the community representatives and also appreciated the Management of the LASUSTECH for the willingness to partner with the LCDA.

He urged both young and old members of the community to join hands with the LCDA to find a lasting solution to the issue of flooding ravaging the communities.

While commiserating with the affected victims of flood, Bldr. Banjo gave out monetary donations to the victims and encouraged them to keep the drainages free of wastes in order to avoid flooding.

Also speaking at the event, Tpl. Olulade Peter Fosudo, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Urban and Rural Planning, pointed out that the ongoing construction at the First Gate and Odongunyan axis gave way for the flooding that eroded homes.

He advised leaders of the communities to contribute their quota by maintaining clean drainages.
