Man Throws Own Baby In Canal In Ondo

By Emmanuel Awosika
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Muyiwa Ayorinde, for allegedly throwing his own baby boy into a canal in Akure area of Ondo.
According to reports, Muyiwa, 32, arrived the canal area on a motorcycle and tossed a black bag into the canal.
However, cries of a baby emanating from the black bag attracted the attention of people in the area.
Once it was obvious what happened, some boys dived into the canal and rescued the baby, who was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, people in the area apprehended the father and beat him up severely and would have lynched him if it for the intervention of policemen from the Ondo State Police Command.
A witness to the event told a reporter, “I saw the young man looking strange as he alighted from the Okada and pulled out a black bag and dropped it into the canal.
“When we heard a baby’s voice cried out. Then we knew what he had come to do. People have been coming from different places to dump things in this canal. We have to make it as a point of duty to make sure it stopped.
“This man is a wicked man to have come here to dump his own child” Thank God for the swift intervention of the security men that came around. Am sure with the kind of anger I saw on people here they would have killed him.”
Per reports, Muyiwa, the rouge father has been transferred to the Divisional Police Officer at the ‘B’ Division for further interrogation.
