NANS dissociates itself from #RevolutionNow movement

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has dissociated itself from the #RevolutionNow movement led by Omoyele Sowore.

According to the NANS, the #RevolutionNow Movement was “unlawful”, thereby necessitating the student body’s decision to dissociate itself from the group’s activities.

“Exercising rights to freedom of speech, association and assembly should be with decorum,” NANS said via a statement released by its spokesperson, Azeez Adeyemi on Monday.

“Nigerian Students will not be part of any unlawful gathering in the name of revolution.”

The NANS spokesman faulted Sowore’s call for mass action against the Federal Government, stressing that it was tantamount to instigating citizens against the government.

“At a time when Nigeria is battling with barrage of Security Challenges, no sane or right-thinking individual will be instigating the populace against the Government,” he stated.

Adeyemi further urged Nigerian students to desist from breaking the law, telling them to avoid being used as “cannon fodder”.
