Nigeria’s national women team, the Super Falcons, has appointed a new coach in person of former Trinidad and Tobago gaffer, Randy Waldrum.

The Nigerian Football Federation made the announcement in a statement released to newsmen on Monday.

In the statement, President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick, said the American’s appointment would aid the Super Falcons’ progression.

He said, The predominance of the Super Falcons on the African continent has never been in doubt, with nine titles out of 11 editions of the Women AFCON competitions held so far.

We envision a new Super Falcons squad competing favourably for laurels at the global level, and I believe the new technical crew led by Mr. Waldrum can take us to that level.”

Waldrum’s appointment comes months after former Falcons coach, Thomas Dennerby, resigned from his position.

Former Falcons goalie Ann Chiejine will assist him as First Assistant Coach, with Wemimo Olanrewaju serving as Second Assistant Coach.
