 Nigerian Footballer joins the Nigerian Army

A Nigerian female footballer, Blessing Ezekiel of the Rivers Angels of PortHacourt has joined the Nigerian Army.

Blessing Ezekiel who plays for Rivers State based, Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women’s Football League(NWFL) has become the latest recruit into the the Nigerian Army which is the largest component of the Nigerian Armed Forces, with the responsibility for land warfare operations and ground battles.

Prior to her Defense journey in the Army, Bless has always been a defender of attacks, having played her entire football career as a defender for both Rivers Angels and the Nigeria Under 20 Female National team.

Her team, Rivers Angels made the announcement at the weekend on Facebook:

“See who just joined the Nigerian Army! Blessing Ezekiel!

“Congratulations from all of us to you and we wish you the very best as you begin this journey.”

Blessing Ezekiel is a young defender who joined “The Pride of Rivers” from Taraba Queens in 2017 and she was also part of the squad that represented the Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which took place in France two years ago.

With her heroic step, Blessing joined the likes of Zambia legend Christopher Katongo and Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min as footballers who joined their country’s military.
