Obasanjo visits Ogun youngest First Class Oba
Dayo Badmus,

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo is not new to giving respect to people, most especially, the Yoruba traditional institution.

The former President who led Nigeria on two different occasions may qualify as the most successful Yoruba military personnel and again, most successful Yoruba politician.

But, all these achievements doesnt really matter to the ex Head of States and President anytime he comes across the Yoruba Traditional leaders called Obas.

His respect of traditional institution knows no boundaries as he recently demonstrated again.

During the recently celebrated Owu day in Abeokuta, Ogun state, Chief Obasanjo was a guest of 44years old youngest First Class Oba in Ogun state, HRM Oba Abdul Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, the Olorile of Orile-Ifo.

During the visit at the Olorile’s palace in Orile-Ifo, Chief Obasanjo, 84years old who is the curent Balogun of Owu kingdom, was pictured removing his cap before the young monarch.

At some point, he held the hands of the monarch and prayed with him.

Despite the huge age difference of over 40years, the young Olorile enjoyed so much respect from Obasanjo who gave him all the honour usually accorded Obas of first class status in the state.

It will be recalled Obasanjo famously went flat on the ground some years ago when he met the then newly installed Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The former president has over the years shown massive respect to the Yoruba traditional institution.

By his position as the Balogun of Owu Kingdom, Obasanjo is even rated ahead of some coronet Obas.
