Obi says he respects Tinubu, will not insult him
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has said he would not insult or abuse President Bola Tinubu, stressing that he respects the office of the President.
Obi stated this while speaking about his approach to political disagreements and criticism of the Federal Government.
He said political differences should not result in personal attacks or abusive language against those holding public office.
“I will never abuse President Tinubu. He has my respect,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor said his criticisms of the administration were based on issues concerning governance and the welfare of Nigerians.
He maintained that political leaders should be able to disagree on policies and national issues without resorting to personal attacks.
Obi also said he would continue to express his views on matters affecting the country while maintaining respect for individuals involved in political debates.
His comments come amid political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures and the Federal Government frequently differing over economic policies, security and other national issues.
