 Ondo 2020: Ajayi loses election in LGA

Agboola Ajayi, candidate of the Zenith Labour Party and Deputy Governor of Ondo State, has lost his local government in the Governorship Election held in the state on October 10.

Earlier, the ZLP candidate had won his ward (Apoi Ward II), having received 395 votes. Close rivals, Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress and Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party received 13 votes and 5 votes respectively.

However, Ajayi lost to Akeredolu at the local government level. The Deputy Governor polled 4,760 votes compared with his boss and governor of the state who polled 13,383 votes. Meanwhile, Jegede of the PDP came last in the three-horse race, receiving 4,680 of total votes cast.

The result was announced by collation officers at the Independent National Electoral Commission collation centre in Akure on Sunday afternoon.

Based on the results released, the incumbent governor is maintaining a comfortable lead over his two rivals from the APC and ZLP, having won 14 LGAs out of the 18 LGAs.
