 Osun court denies duo accused of murder attempt on Oyetola bail

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo has remanded two ladies accused of plotting to kill Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the Ilesha Correctional Facility.

The two ladies, identified as Ayomide Abdulazeez and Suliyat Tajudeen, both aged 20 years, were charged with four counts of conspiracy, attempted murder, malicious damage and burglary.

Police Prosecutor, ASP John Idoko, told the court that Suliyat, Ayomide and others still at large, had on October 17, 2020, conspired to kill Governor Oyetola by shooting and hurling stones at him.

He said that they destroyed 17 vehicles in the governor’s convoy, adding that they burgled Justrite Mall and made away wit laptops, mobile phones and phone accessories worth over N3 million.

The defendants, however, pled not guilty to the charges brought against them by the police.

The Chief Magistrate, Dr Ayilara rejected an oral bail application made by the defence counsel, Nurudeen Kareem.

He asked the two ladies be remanded at the Ilesha Correctional Facility and adjourned the case to November 20, 2020, for ruling on bail.
