Osun State govt gives ultimatum for hoodlums to return looted items

By Emmanuel Awosika

The Osun State Government has told hoodlums who looted private and public assets to return those items in 72 hours or face prosecution.

This is according to Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, who gave the order on Sunday while assessing places affected by the looting.

He urged the hoodlums to return the items to the nearest authorities, adding that those who failed to comply would be traced and made to face the wrath of the law.

His words: “What I witnessed here today is not actually a question of hoodlums, but armed robbers. They have actually removed all the machines that are here.

“It is very unfortunate. What I have seen here is massive looting, armed robbery and stealing of the highest order

“I can say categorically that #EndSARS protest is not what we are seeing here today. This is pure looting and it is all over.

“As a government, we will look at the possible ways of bringing the victims back to life through our efforts and the intervention of the Federal Government.”

Hoodlums looted COVID-19 palliative warehouses, grain silos, private stores, among other places in Osun State last week, forcing the governor to declare a 24-hour statewide curfew.
