 Pastor Kills Herbalist In Anambra

By Emmanuel Awosika

A self-acclaimed pastor, Uchenna Chukwuma, has been arrested for the murder of a herbalist in Anambra State.

Chukwuma, 21, is said to have killed the herbalist, identified as Chukwudi Ugwu, because the latter was stalling his spiritual and financial progress.

Spokesman for the police in Cross River State, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed this in a press briefing on Friday.

He said operatives had responded to reports of a murder in the Idemili area of the state. There, they discovered the bleeding herbalist and rushed him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead later.

The security personnel had promptly arrested Chukwuma who confessed to killing the herbalist because “[he] was disturbing him spiritually and had not allowed him to progress financially.”

The police spokesperson said a bloodied machete was recovered from the crime scene and would be used as evidence in the prosecution of the suspect.

The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department in Awka for further interrogation.
