Peter Obi says 2027 election will be decided by Nigerians and Tinubu administration
Former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has said the 2027 general election will be a contest between Nigerians and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Obi made the remark while addressing supporters in a video that circulated online.
According to him, the election should be viewed as a referendum on the performance of the current government and the direction of the country.
“The 2027 election is between Nigerians and the Tinubu administration,” he said.
The former governor also repeated his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election but that the outcome did not reflect the will of the voters.
He argued that Nigeria is facing a leadership crisis and called for governance that prioritises economic recovery, security and the welfare of citizens.
Obi urged Nigerians to remain politically engaged and participate actively in the democratic process ahead of the next election cycle.
The Presidency has not officially responded to his latest comments.
Obi remains one of the prominent opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general election and has continued to speak on national issues since the 2023 polls.
