Thee unnamed players of French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain have tested positive for COVID-19, the club announced today.

“Three Paris Saint-Germain players have confirmed positive Sars CoV2 tests and are subject to the appropriate health protocol,” PSG said in a statement.

“All of the players and coaching staff will continue to undergo tests in the coming days,” PSG said in a statement.

Earlier on Monday, the club had announced that two unidentified players in the team were showing signs of the COVID-19 infection.

“Two PSG players are suspected of infection with Covid-19. Their state of health is quite reassuring. They have already been subjected to the appropriate health protocol,” it had said in a statement.

Reports suggest that Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes may be the duo suspected to have COVID-19. The duo had reportedly spent the holidays together in Ibiza, which had its share of COVID-19 cases.

According to league regulations, a team must cancel training sessions if more than four players test positive.

Match postponements are also possible in event of a team’s players contracting COVID-19. PSG’s season opener with Marseille set to be played on August 21 was postponed after a number of players testing positive for the virus.

Asides PSG, a number of French Ligue 1 sides have reported positive tests. The list includes Lyon, Marseille, Rennes, Nantes and Montpellier.
