We Did Not Invite Any Musician For Questioning – DSS, Police

By Emmanuel Awosika

Both the Department of State Security and the Lagos State Police have denied allegations that they invited some musicians for questioning.

Reports alleging that the security agencies invited some artistes for questioning over some political statements they made on social media had gone viral on Wednesday.

Among the artistes said to have been quizzed by the DSS and Lagos State Police include Mavins Entertainment boss Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Waje.

The artistes were reportedly invited by the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Zubairu Muazu, who warned the artistes against making political statements that could draw the ire of the Buhari-led government.

However, when contacted by journalists, the DSS denied the allegations, with its spokesperson, Peter Afunnaya, saying “we didn’t invite any musician.”

Similarly, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Bala Elkana, rejected reports that the Lagos State Police had summoned the musicians for questioning.

“I am not aware of any invitation,” he added.

According to him, the commissioner said to have made the invitation, Zubairu Muazu, had left the Commissioner of Police position a long time ago.

“[Zubairu Muazu] ceased being CP months ago…the present CP is Hakeem Odumosu who came in November last year.”

Sources within Don Jazzy’s camp have also denied rumors that the entertainer was summoned by the DSS and Lagos State Police.

Don Jazzy himself posted a video on Twitter on Wednesday, in which he indicated that he had not been quizzed by the police.
