Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused an aide to President Bola Tinubu, Sunday Asefon, and the President’s son-in-law, Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, of involvement in the recent attack on him in Ekiti State.

Sowore made the allegation in a statement shared on his verified X account on Monday while giving further details about the October 30 incident in Ado-Ekiti.

The activist alleged that the attack was politically motivated and involved individuals close to the Presidency.

He identified Asefon, a former president of the National Association of Nigerian Students and Senior Special Assistant to Tinubu on Student Engagement, as one of the alleged coordinators of the attack.

Sowore also named Asefon’s alleged bodyguard, Ayodeji Akintade Ifeoluwa, and another individual identified as Sola Adenijo, popularly known as Solar, as persons allegedly involved in the incident.

He further alleged that Ojo, who is the Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority and married to Tinubu’s daughter, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, was connected to the incident.

According to Sowore, information received by his team suggested that Ojo allegedly mobilised Adenijo for the operation.

The activist described the incident as an attempt to intimidate him and discourage him from criticising the government.

He maintained that the attack would not stop his activities or his advocacy for accountability and good governance.

Sowore also called on the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.

The latest allegation followed an earlier claim by Sowore that one of the individuals involved in the attack was a Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor.

As of the time of filing this report, Asefon and Ojo had not publicly responded to the allegations.
