Tinubu Describes Umrah as Spiritual Experience, Says He Prayed for Nigeria
President Bola Tinubu has described his recent Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, as a deeply spiritual experience, saying he used the opportunity to pray for Nigeria and its citizens.
Tinubu spoke shortly after performing the Islamic religious rites at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, early Friday.
In a video shared on his official X page, the President expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to undertake the pilgrimage, also known as the lesser Hajj.
“This is a deeply spiritual moment for me, and an opportunity to offer prayers for our beloved country, Nigeria, and all our people,” he said.
Tinubu prayed for lasting peace, national unity and protection for Nigerians, while asking God to grant the country wisdom and strength to overcome its challenges.
He also said the pilgrimage was significant to him because of his commitment to the country and his belief in the will of Allah.
“I believe this Umrah is very significant for the love of our people, commitment to the job and our country, Nigeria; commitment to the will of Allah that His words must prevail,” the President said.
He added that he and members of his delegation had prayed for Nigerians to live in peace, harmony and happiness.
Tinubu had travelled to Saudi Arabia on Thursday to perform the pilgrimage, after which he is expected to return to Nigeria next week.
