Trump says UN must hold China accountable for COVID-19

By Emmanuel Awosika

President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, said the United Nations Organization must hold China accountable for its role in the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said this in a pre-recorded message broadcast at the UN’s Annual Meeting, which took place virtually on Tuesday.

The United Nations must hold China accountable for their actions,” he said.

“We must hold accountable the nation that released this plague upon the world.”

He accused China of allowing the virus leave the city of Wuhan, where it first appeared, and “infect the world.”

He stated China and World Health Organization of being responsible for the deadly pandemic that occured from the spread of the virus.

“The Chinese government, and the World Health Organization — which is virtually controlled by China — falsely declared that there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission.”

“Later, they falsely said people without symptoms would not spread the disease,” he added.

Trump is facing a difficult election battle against Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, in November, and has tried to divert attention from his poor handling of the pandemic by blaming the COVID-19 pandemic on China.
