The Economic And Financial Crimes Commission has announced the arrest of one Hajiya Hadiza Umar for allegedly swindling a job seeker.

This was announced by the Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC in a statement made available to journalists.

Umar, a businesswoman, is said to have promised the victim, Nuraddeen Abubakar, a job at the EFCC in return for a payment of N3 million.

However, the promised job never materialized, forcing the victim to report the matter to the authorities.

Umar was arrested at a Guaranty Trust Bank branch after she showed up for her son who had been lured to the bank and arrested by EFCC agents.

The EFCC spokesperson said the victim had contacted Umar through her son and had been asked to make payment of N6 million, but had paid only N3 million to the her in October 2019.

Allegedly, Umar promised the victim that he would receive a letter of employment a fortnight after paying the requested sum.

She also said he would have to pay the remainder of the sum once he got his letter of employment.

“The victim stated that he had not received an employment letter nine months after paying the suspect,” he said.

Oyewale indicated the suspect would soon be arraigned before the court of law.
