 Suspected Robber Killed In Foiled Robbery Attempt

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a suspected robber in a foiled robbery attempt on the Sagamu-Benin Highway.

Reportedly, the incident had occured early this morning around 2.45 am, when suspected armed robbers, disguised as militarily personnel, mounted roadblocks to allow them stop vehicles and rob travellers.

However, the Ogun State Police received reports of the robbery operation and promptly dispatched men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) from Imagbon area of Ogun State to handle the situation.

Upon their arrival, the security operatives, led by ASP Akinosi Jackson, engaged in a shootout with the armed robbers.

Information reaching us indicate one of the robbers was shot dead during the gun duel, while others sustained injuries and fled into the surrounding bushes.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed validity of the reports.
