 18 sentenced for commiting environmental offences in Lagos

The Magistrate’s Court sitting in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government has sentenced 18 environmental offenders to one week imprisonment with an option of ₦5,000 fine for illegal dumping of waste and defacing of the environment.

One of the offenders was sentenced to three months imprisonment with option of ₦100,000 fine for open defecation.

The offenders were apprehended by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) enforcement team at different locations in the state.

The offenders were arrested at Oyingbo, Ayobo, Abule Egba, Agege Isokoko, Ikeja and Ekoro Agbeleka while committing the various offences.
