Airtel compensates customers for network disruption

Airtel users were left pleasantly surprised on Monday after they received free data and airtime worth N1,000.
Initially, unconfirmed reports suggested the network provider had been hacked by hacktivist group, Anonymous.
However, a message from Airtel to users dispelled the rumors. According to the message, Airtel had gifted subscribers free data and airtime to compensate for the disruption in network services on Friday, October 16.
The message said: “Dear customer, we apologise for the recent service disruption experienced on October 16. Normal service has been restored and your line will be credited with five minutes of on-net calls and 100MB of data both valid for one day.”
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had recently called on network providers to comply with the agency’s compensation policy or risk sanctions.
