Mrs Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin children, who were kidnapped this week, have regained their freedom.

A senior police source told Newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, that they were rescued this night.

Two suspected kidnappers were neutralised in a gun duel with police operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the gang.

The victims, including the younger sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, were kidnapped at 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while on their way to drop their children off at school.

According to police sources, continued information tracking and tactical pressure pushed the kidnappers to confront operatives, resulting in the successful rescue of the victims.

Security personnel are currently combing the surrounding areas for fleeing members of the abduction syndicate, some of whom are thought to have fled with bullet wounds.
