Atiku Tells Tinubu To Address Hunger, Stop Attacking Opposition
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the worsening economic hardship in the country, urging him to focus on addressing hunger rather than targeting opposition parties.
Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the remarks during a press conference at his residence in Abuja on Tuesday.
He accused the Tinubu administration of neglecting the welfare of Nigerians while concentrating on efforts to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Atiku, many Nigerians are struggling to afford basic necessities, while businesses are facing difficulties due to rising operational costs.
He said the government should prioritise the country’s economic challenges instead of engaging in political confrontations.
“Fight hunger, not opposition parties,” Atiku told Tinubu.
The former vice president alleged that Nigerians were battling rising food prices, high fuel costs and widespread insecurity, while the administration focused on political disputes.
He further accused the government of intimidating opposition figures and attempting to undermine political parties challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku maintained that the government should be held accountable for its economic policies and their impact on the living conditions of Nigerians.
He urged Tinubu to direct his attention towards reducing the cost of living, addressing insecurity and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
The ADC chieftain’s remarks come amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
