 Abducted Baptist Students: Bandits demand N60m, to be paid before Tuesday

Abductors of 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna have demanded a total sum of N60 million to free the remaining 120 abductees.

The bandits said the ransom must be paid before the end of Monday, July 19, 2021.

One of the parents, disclosed that the bandits reduced the ransom to N500, 000 per student, making a total of N60 million.

According to him: “Some amounts have been gathered but the church is trying to raise additional funds from members of the church and well-wishers to complete the money. We the parents have already been contributing to the pool.”

He expressed hope that if the ransom demand is met on Monday the students would be released on Tuesday as promised by the bandits.

The bandits has freed one of the abducted students due to medical condition.

The student in a report by Nigerian Tribune remarked that the bandits were treating all the students well as their leader had warned that the students must not be molested or maltreated.

The student also said the bandits allowed them to observe their regular devotion.

“We sing choruses and pray loudly without molestation. The leader of the bandits said we must be allowed to worship our God.

“They even ask us to pray for them each time they are leaving the camp either for operations or market so that they will return safely.”

He added that the bandits had a lot of cows and goats and slaughtered one every two days to feed them.
