 Adamawa to reopen schools on October 12

Schools in Adamawa State will reopen on 12 October 2020, the state government announced on Thursday.

Per the announcement, both private schools and public schools in the state will resume activities on Monday, October 12th.

The was made known by Governor Ahmad Finitri in statement released by his Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou.

“I am pleased to announce Monday, October 12th as the date for the resumption of academic activities from the basic to tertiary levels, having wasted so much time,” the statement read.

The Governor expressed regrets over the prolonged shutdown of schools and other vital parts of the economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He stressed his government’s commitment to ensuring schools in the state can reopen safely.

“Consequently, the Governor has directed the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to meet with stakeholders in the sector to discuss modalities for the reopening,” the statement added.

Fintiri also urged parents to help their wards prepare for resump, taking into account COVID-19 guidelines.
