In fulfilling part of its core objectives -helping indigent students to attain academic excellence, a non governmental organisation, Academic Excellence Initiative (AEI), has presented free Unified Tertiary Examination (UTME) forms to some students in Lagos.

While presenting the forms to the students, the Project Officer of the AEI Mushin Unit, Dr. Moshood, said the forms were given to ensure that indigent students are not deprived of the privilege to acquire tertiary education.

“This is one of our core objectives, the AEI aims at academic excellence of students. To achieve that, we set out to give these students free forms to enable them access education beyond the secondary school level. These free UTME forms are given out to students every year and we hope to sustain the gesture to enable us impact positively in their lives,” he said.

Dr. Moshood said aside the free forms, the NGO also engages in free teaching of the students at various centres within the unit and across the South west states of Nigeria as a AEI is a national organisation.

One of the beneficiaries of the forms, Hamzat Aderonke in an heartfelt appreciation, thanked the AEI for the support on the free forms.

She said: “I had thought I won’t be able to write this year’s UTME as a result of paucity of funds but, with the support from the AEI, I am now a bonafide candidate of UTME. I thank the organisation for this opportunity given to us”.
