Obe responds to allegation on plan to return Ambode, others, vows to institute legal action

The Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Bello Obe, has described the reports in a publication credited to Ejigbo Youth Vanguard about his plan to use his second term to canvass for the return of the former Lagos Governor, Akinwumi Ambode as unfounded and gimmick by his opponents to truncate his re-election ambition.

The author(s) of the publication had alleged that the council chairman together with the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamgbetan as well as the former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Abdulateef Abdualhskeem are planning to use Ejigbo LCDA as a platform to launch campaign for the return of Akinwumi Ambode as the Lagos State Governor in 2023.

They also alleged Obe-led administration of nonperformance coupled with other fund misappropriation allegations.

Responding in a statement jointly signed by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the council chairman on Political Matter and APC Youth Leader in Ejigbo, Hon. Jide Ogunmefun, Hon. Adeoti and Hon. Sanmi Akinsanya, the council boss challenged those behind the publication to present their facts or face the legal implications of their action.

He said those associated with the publication were only using undemocratic means to achieve their dreams.

The council boss pledged to fish out those behind the publication and may be charged for defamation of character.

RE: HOW EJIGBO LEADERS PLAN TO USE OBE’S SECOND TERM TO RETURN AMBODE

We have read in dismay a publication captioned above and purportedly written by Ejigbo Youth Vanguard.

The said publication targeted the trio of Monsuru Obe, Kehinde Bamgbetan and Abdulateef Abdualhskeem with super natural powers are using Ejigbo LCDA as a launch pad to champion a ‘Bring-back-Ambode’ Campaign.

We ordinarily would have ignored the publication as laughable and ridiculous since the thoughts expressed are not practicable or reasonably foreseeable. We have however decided to respond to other allegations such as nonperformance of Hon. Monsuru Obe and the hilarious suggestions that he possesses seventy landed properties scattered all around the Lagos metropolis.

On the allegation of Non Performance; it is an established truth that opinion is free and disagreement is legitimate; to this extent we would concede that the Ejigbo Youths Vanguard is at liberty to hold its view no matter how contradictory it is.

Monsuru Obe was recently awarded as the Chairman in Nigeria with the highest infrastructural development and the people of Ejigbo can attest to the fact that Ejigbo has changed for the
better in terms of security, socio-economic and infrastructural developments.

On the possession of several landed
properties, we challenge the authors of this unfortunate article to publish locations of the said properties with a proof that they belong to the Chairman, failing which we shall fish out the said authors and instruct our legal team to institute legal action against them for defamation of character.

Let it be made abundantly clear that those who are desirous of contesting elective positions are at liberty to do so as same is within their rights. We however frown at any form of campaign of calumny especially within one and the same party.

Those associated with the said publication should have a rethink and consider the form of damage they can do to the reputation of the great Lagosians whose characters they have tainted only for a morsel.

The wish in their so claimed petition is asking for Mr. governor to disqualify the executive Chairman, Hon. Monsuru Oloyede. Using an undemocratic medium to fulfil their dream further negates the directive of our National Leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu who has directed all aspirants to go for direct primaries.
