 Covid-19: Ekiti State Govt Relocates Residents in Clustered Area

The Ekiti State Government has relocated the occupant’s of the Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti, to Shasha and Ijan road areas, as the perimeter fencing of the area commenced.

 

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Gbenga Agbeyo gave the information to the press in Ado Ekiti.

According to the Commissioner, the decision became imperative, based on  the directive of Mr Governor, to get rid of illegal occupants from the area, who are living clustered closely together, negating the social distancing rule, aiming to avoid spreading of covid 19 and other deadly diseases.

 

Agbeyo explained further, that the Atikankan area which has already become an eye sore, constitutes a health hazard, and a nuisance to aesthetic beautification of Ado Ekiti.

 

He stressed the commitment of the present administration  to providing  a conducive environment for the people of the state.

 

The Commissioner therefore, urged the occupants to move to the newly designated areas, as work had already started on the construction of the perimeter fencing of the area, to give the place a new look.

 

Speaking on the safety of workers on the site, the Ministry’s Boss stated that there are security men stationed around the place to curtail those who intend to foment trouble.

 

Also at the site, the General Manager of State Environmental Protection Agency, Mr Seyi Adegbola, who is handling the project, said it would be delivered within a short time, as directed by the Governor.

He enjoined motorists and motorcyclists plying the area, to slow down as men are at work, to avoid unnecessary accidents.
