Don’t trivialise agitations of youths — CAN to Buhari

By Emmanuel Awosika

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has warned the Federal Government against taking the agitations of youths in the country for granted.

This was made known by CAN President, Samson Ayokunle, during the consecration of Rev. James Owoyemi as President of the United Apostolic Church of Christ worldwide which held in Akure, Ondo State.

Ayokunle said the youths had proven to be formidable, hence, the government should endeavour to listen to their agitations.

He said government must include the youth population in its development plans, particularly by creating jobs for them.

He, however, advised the youths to exercise patience with the government, saying it would take time to change things.

“I want the government not to trivialise the voice of the youth but to ensure and work assiduously and make concrete plans for them in the developmental programme of the country especially in creating an enabling environment for employment for the youths.

“With the way they have spoken, I also want to advise the youths to be patient because Rome was not built in a day. They also need to allow the government to have space to rejig things and make plans for them.”
