 Police launch manhunt for killer motorcyclist in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has declared wanted an unnamed motorcyclist accused of killing Oke Musbau, Deputy Chairman, Tricycle Owners and Operators’ Association of Nigeria (TOOAN) in Ejigbo, Lagos.

The incident reportedly occured on Friday evening around 8.30pm when the motorcyclist stabbed Musbau following a heated argument.

According to reports, the argument started after the motorcyclist, driving against traffic, brushed against the the victim’s tricycle.

The suspect is said to have stabbed Musbau as they exchanged words and hot-footed it. Musbau later died at a hospital due to the great loss of blood.

Reports say the incident sparked an ethnic clash as Yorubas launched a retaliatory attack against Hausas in the area. However, the efforts of security operatives helped contain the situation.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, corroborated the report, adding that the victim was aged 55 years at the time of his death.

He said: “The suspect has fled. We will arrest him with the help of his association. The CP has given a marching order to arrest him and has told the Commander, Area D Mushin, to make sure adequate security is provided in the area to forestall any future occurrence.”
