 EndSARS: Police arrest female protester who killed two people in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Mrs. Nike Lawal, one of the protesters who reportedly killed two people at Ikola Road, Alagbado area of Lagos, on Wednesday, by allegedly driving recklessly.

The female endsars protester was arrested for driving recklessly and killing 2 innocent Nigerians at Ikola Road, Alagbado area of Lagos, on Wednesday, 14th October, 2020.

Lawal, a resident at No. 30, Anjorin Street, Aminkanle, Lagos State, was said to be the driver of Toyota 4Runner SUV with REG. NO. GGE 346 BK that ran into a tricycle and killed the duo of Ojo Azeez, a 27 years old man and Yusuf Sodia, a 26 years old man, both living at command road, Alagbado, Lagos State.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said the suspect, who intentionally removed the number plates on her SUV, as at the time of the incident, joined the protest at AIT junction, Alagbado, and started driving recklessly, like many other protesters, before the fatal accident.

He said: “The Commissioner of Police has commiserated with the families of the deceased and assured them of the command’s commitment to having justice in the case; and that the command will not relent in its efforts in maintaining peace, law and order within the state.

“In the same vein, the Commissioner of Police has arrested and commenced orderly room trial of the 4 policemen who were caught for assaulting a young lady (protester) in a viral video at Surulere on Monday.

“The policemen are Insp Bagou Michael, Insp Ekpoudom Etop, Sgt Nnamdi Majura, and Sgt Akinyemi Benson.

“The policemen, who are attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Surulere, Lagos State are cooling their feet in the cell while the orderly room trial continues. He has also ordered for the arrest of the policeman who slapped an aged mother in another viral video at Iyun Street, Surulere, same day.

“CP Hakeem Odumosu has however reiterated his zero tolerance for incivility, brutality and inappropriate conducts amongst police personnel as his corrective mechanisms are sacrosanct.”
