The winner of the 2020 Big Brother Naija show (lockdown edition), Olamilekan Agbelesebioba aka Laycon, has debunked the belief that he portrayed himself as vulnerable in the house, a strategy to attract sympathy and win the show.

In an interview, he explained that he never had any strategy while going into the house, he only went to promote his musical career.

He said that while in the house he had to put off pretense and be himself. According to him, he had no clue of the huge followership he had amassed on social media and on the streets.

“I only went into the house to promote my music and I had to be myself to do that. Every other thing that happened just occurred that way naturally. I knew that people would see the kind of person I am through my music if I was real.

“I really don’t understand what people mean when they say I had a strategy. All I know is that I didn’t go into the house with a strategy.”Laycon said

He disagreed on the widely held view that the BBN is an immoral show which adds no value to people’s life, stating that the show had helped him grow in several way and has contributed to his mental growth.

“The show made me grow immensely in many ways. I have been able to understand different types of conducts and have different levels of tolerance. I have also learnt to be more patient. The show is one where one grows mentally.

“I think people need to look at it from the inside, rather than the outside. There is a lot of growth one would experience if one goes into the house.”

Speaking about criticisms leveled against the Ogun State government for gifting him with N5m and a house, he explained that he was made an ambassador first, then the house and money was to assist him in carrying out his duties.

Also commenting on the #EndSARS movement, Laycon, whose father is an ex policeman, said he had also had several encounters with SARS officials and believes the menace should be worked on.

The BBN winner said now that he is out of the house, his intention is to focus on his musical career, change people’s lives and make positive impacts.

“My music career comes first, then every other thing would follow. Also, my primary goal is to spread love and light, and affect people’s lives positively.

“I am prepared mentally for important things. Anything that is not important to the purpose of having this platform and changing people’s lives would not get my attention. I see any other thing as a distraction. My aim right now is to give back to people positively.” he said.
