IPOB says SE governors, Ohaneze will regret supporting proscription

By Emmanuel Awosika

The Independent Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has declared that South-East governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo and will eventually regret supporting the group’s proscription.

The Federal Government had proscribed the group in 2017, designating it a ‘militant terrorist organization’.

The IPOB accused South-East governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo of colluding with the FG to proscribe the group, calling it their greatest mistake

According to the IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the proscription had given terrorists, bandits and herdsmen the opportunity to conduct attacks in the region.

In a statement released on behalf of the IPOB, Mr. Powerful described the spate of killings and unrest in Igboland as punishment for the “treacherous and ignoble role of the governors and other actors in the proscription of IPOB.”

The group’s statement reads in part: “Conniving with the enemies to get rid of IPOB, which is the only defence line of Biafra nation, is the greatest mistake made by the South-East governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo and some self-acclaimed Igbo political leaders.

“It is a constant reminder of the Igbo adage that says ‘when you kill your hero in an internal squabble, during an external fight you must remember him’.

“The reward of treachery is shame and eternal regret. By conniving with the enemies to get rid of IPOB that is the only defence line of Biafra nation, they have opened our land to constant attack and humiliation.”
