By Modupe Shodeinde

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has announced the postponement of the 2020 edition of the Lagos International Trade Fair due to economic and social upheavals in the state.

Director-General of the LCCI, Dr Muda Yusuf, in a statement on Thursday, said the fair which was scheduled to hold from 5th to 15th of November 2020 has been rescheduled for between 4th to 13th of December 2020 at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

According to him, the postponement was due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the recent #EndSARS protests on the economy.

He said, “The resolve to hold the 2020 edition of the fair is in line with the need for quick restoration of normalcy to the economic and commercial activities in Lagos State and our support for the ongoing ‘Protect Lagos’ Campaign.”

Yusuf said that the fair which would hold both physically and virtually, will focus on facilitating trade and charting a way forward for the economy out of the impending recession.

He emphasized that the fair would ensure networking among exhibitors and visitors.

“In addition to the general interest fair, the annual international business expo will also feature special days for corporate organisations to showcase their inventions, innovations, and sustainability initiatives simultaneously during the fair.” he added.

“The fair is expected to attract a huge traffic of visitors seeking to take advantage of the networking opportunities and discounted prices.
