Magodo residents appeal to LASG for protection from land grabbers

By Emmanuel Awosika

Residents of Magodo Phase 2 GRA in Shangisha, Lagos, have called on the state government to protect them against the antics of land grabbers bent on confiscating their properties by force.

Chairman of the Magodo Residents Association (MRA), Bajo Osinubi, made the call at a press conference in Lagos on Thursday.

Osinubi revealed that some thugs had invaded the estate in company of police operatives on Tuesday and made to take over some of the properties.

He said residents had information that the thugs were acting on orders of one family which had won a case against the Lagos State Government in court.

He said the Supreme Court had ordered the state government to allocate 548 plots of land to the family in state, but added that the ruling never mentioned Magodo, which was a properly alloted area.

“It is pertinent to also inform the public that the writ of execution obtained by a certain family has been challenged in court and same has been set aside by Justice R.I.B. Adebiyi of the High Court of Lagos State,” Osinubi said.

He urged the government to protect their properties from illegal takeover by the family in question.
