By Emmanuel Awosika

National Chairman of the Peoples Demographic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has said the party is ready to hand over control to the youths to promote effective leadership in Nigeria.

Secondus made this known at a national summit for youth members of the PDP in the in the five southeastern branches, which held Awka, Anambra State.

Speaking at the event, themed ‘Youth in governance, PDP the platform’, Secondus said the summit was to prepare the youths for leadership positions.

He noted that many Nigerian youths have displayed great leadership traits, citing examples of youth leaders based in Nigeria and abroad.

“APC has failed in leadership and also failed in giving the youths space in their party. Nigeria is in a mess, but we urge you to be patient and law abiding and to think inwards and find what you can do for your country. PDP remains the hope of Nigeria and we are handing the party over to youths,” he added.

Meanwhile, a Zonal PDP chairman, Ali Odefa, boasted that the PDP remained the most youth-friendly party in the country, having given many youths opportunities for leadership.

He promised the youths that their political aspirations would not be truncated in the PDP, adding that the party was making plans to capture all Southeastern states in the 2023 polls.

The summit was attended by youths from all the states in the Southeast, and also leaders of the party in the zone.
