LASU Shutdown Hostels After 3 Students Tests Positive for Covid-19

The Lagos State University (LASU) has shut down its College of Medicine (LASUCOM), hostels after three students tested positive for Covid-19.
The Management also placed the three students under isolation and commenced contact tracing to further curtail the continued spread of the virus in Lagos.
Confirming the action, the Head, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations for the institution, Ademola Adekoya, in a statement made available to the media on Thursday, added that other students that had close contact with the affected students were being tested to ascertain their COVID-19 status.
The management noted that all students have been directed to embark on a 14 days isolation to ascertain their status, while decontamination of hostels would commence as stipulated by the Federal and Lagos State Government.
The statement reads: The Management of Lagos State University (LASU) wishes to inform staff, students, and the General Public that three students of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) have tested positive for Covid-19 leading the College to immediately close down all her hostel facilities.
“In addition, stakeholders are also informed that: roommates of the three students who tested positive and their associates are being tested while the affected three students have been isolated and contact tracing of all affected students commenced.
“The hostel facilities were immediately closed for decontamination upon confirmation of the status of the affected students.
Also, all students of the College have been advised to proceed home to self-isolate for the next 14 days from where their health status will be monitored by the College. Phone numbers/contacts of all students are already obtained to that effect.
