Akeredolu will be voted out on Oct. 10 — Mimiko

By Emmanuel Awosika

Former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has declared that the people of Ondo will vote out Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in the state’s Governorship Election slated for October 10.

Mimiko said Ondo citizens are tired of the present Governor’s lacklustre performance since he assumed office over three years ago.

The National Leader of the Zenith Labour Party stated this during a campaign stop at the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area in support of the party’s standard-bearer, Alfred Agboola Ajayi.

Mimiko faulted the decision of the Akeredolu-led government to stop free healthcare services and increase tuition of students in the state’s tertiary institutions, branding the decisions as anti-people.

He also criticized the Governor’s claims of exceptional performance, stating that performance indices painted a different situation.

Reacting to the former Governor’s criticism, Akeredolu touted his achievements in the health and education sectors, saying he had beaten Mimiko’s performance in those areas.

Spokesperson of Aketi/Ayedatiwa Campaign Council, Olabode Richard, said: “The Akeredolu administration realized that Mimiko only had two mother and child hospitals in the whole of the state.

“Governor Akeredolu has now expanded from two to seven and they are now across the three senatorial districts of the state. As we speak, work is going on at the Teaching hospital both in Ondo and Akure. Arakunrin Akeredolu has introduced the Contributory health scheme which has also brought about free health care service for under-five children and pregnant women.”
