60 vehicle owners and drivers, are to be arraigned before the Lagos State Mobile Court for violating traffic laws in the state.

The Lagos State Task Force on the Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit said the violators were arrested from different parts of the state for offences such as, driving against traffic, plying the dedicated Bus Rapid Transit lane and causing obstruction on the roads.

Chairman of the agency, Shola Jejeloye, who led the enforcement team, expressed his displeasure over seeing educated road users violating traffic rules.

“Honestly, it is painful that with the high level of enlightenment campaigns and serious warnings by the government, motorists, including private car owners, could still be driving against traffic without fear of crushing innocent passers-by or causing collision with oncoming vehicles.” he said.

Jejeloye who thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for donating additional operational vehicles to the agency to further boost traffic enforcement operations, reiterated the agency’s commitment towards enhancing enforcement of the law.

According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has given directives to intensify enforcement operations on traffic law violators in every part of the state.
